Learn more about the “invisible” way to achieve a straighter smile.

Everything from magazines to your favorite TV shows showcases perfect teeth. So, it really comes as no surprise that many adults turn to our Florham Park, NJ, dentist Dr. Mark Gleckner to find out if it’s too late to get braces. The good news is that it’s never too late and we offer a far more discreet way to fix crooked, misaligned smiles so that you can feel confident in your appearance throughout your treatment.

How does Invisalign work?

The very first step is to come into our Florham Park, NJ, practice so that your dentist can examine your smile, discuss your treatment goals and determine whether you’re an ideal candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign is a great option for our older teen and adult patients, as it offers a metal-free and completely clear alternative to braces. Instead of brackets and wires, this orthodontic system will use clear, removable aligners that are very similar to whitening trays or mouthguards.

Of course, we will need to take impressions of your mouth and utilize computer software to map out how your teeth will need to shift in order to get a straighter smile. This information is then sent to a dental lab, where they will design each aligner to move teeth into the ideal spot over the course of your treatment.

What should I expect from the Invisalign treatment process?

It’s important to know what to expect before you take the plunge to get Invisalign. After all, like any dental procedure, this requires a commitment to the treatment process. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, this means that you don’t have to restrict your diet or avoid certain foods. You can eat and even care for your smile the same as you did before braces, but you’ll just need to make sure to put your aligners back in immediately afterward.

Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced with the next pair. If you want to see results, it’s important that you’re wearing your aligners for about 22 hours out of the day. In anywhere from 6 months to 18 months, you or your teen could have a perfectly straight smile.

Invisalign and our dentist Dr. Gleckner have helped many teen and adult patients here in Florham Park, NJ, get perfect smiles. To find out if you’re an ideal candidate for Invisalign, call us at (973) 377-1174 to schedule an evaluation.
